The Alchemist

                                                     THE ALCHEMIST

The Alchemist, is as the title says, a fable about following your dreams. Written by the celebrated Brazilian writer, Paulo Coelho de Souza, this book narrates the story of a young man and his venture following his dream. The book talks about the importance of following our dreams.

Plot:

A boy named Santiago, a shepherd in Andalusia, an autonomous community in Spain, dreams about finding a treasure near the Pyramids. How he finds the treasure is how the story moves on.

The book talks about Love. Love, not in the sense of today's world. Love, as a dimension of the universe, as a wonder of the world, as a miracle of creation.

Love is a part of the 'Soul of the World', and it speaks the language of souls.

Language of souls is a language without words and is understood by every part of creation in the universe.

The story also tells the readers about Alchemy - that Alchemy is not just the art of turning lead into gold, that it is something much more powerful - 'and what is more powerful than the soul?'

This story of a simple shepherd boy teaches us things that can make miracles in one's life.

The book is very gripping. It makes us want to keep reading. The language in the book is very simple and everyone can understand.

The book was published in 1988 but it still holds a special place in a reader's bookshelf.

A MUST READ!!!

When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you achieve it.
